Before injecting;
- All traces of cosmetics,
cream, etc. must be removed.
- Aquamid
must be injected only under strict aseptic conditions.
Accurate asepsis and antisepsis is essential at least 5 cm
around the site of the injection, using, for example,
chlorhexidine with alcohol twice with a five minute
interval.
- Aquamid
must not be injected in a site where another permanent
filler is present.
- If the area has been
treated with a resorbable product, an injection of Aquamid
should not be made until the resorbable product has
disappeared completely (at least six months).
- The consent form should
be read and signed by the patient and the physician prior to
injection.
- Do not mix Aquamid with
any other substance.
- The syringe is for single
use only. Unused hydrogel must NOT be stored and used later
due to infection risk.
- Store at room temperature
protected from direct sunlight.
Injection Guidelines;
- Aquamid
injectable implants must be injected subcutaneously and
not into the dermis.
- Do not inject in
actively infected areas or areas with active skin disease
(for example, herpes or acne in active phase).
- Use a new needle when
changing the site of injection (new indication).
- When withdrawing the
needle, avoid leaving traces of Aquamid in the injection
channel where the needle is inserted.
- Perform the injection
using the recommended technique FMLRT (fine multiline
retrograde technique).
- You need not perform
the correction in one session. More sessions can be
performed at minimum intervals of 15 days (there is no
maximum).
After injecting;
- Patients must avoid
touching the injection site for at least six hours, or
using cosmetics on the site, for 24 hours after injection.
- Patients should not be
exposed to extreme cold or hot for at least 4 weeks.
- You should inform
patients that a small risk of transient oedema and
tenderness may occur near the treatment site within the
first 1-2 days after treatment. If not caused by
infection, these will be self-limiting and will resolve
spontaneously within a couple of days.
- You should inform
patients that, in the rare event of infection at the
injection site, the patient shall contact you immediately.
The recommended treatment is an appropriate antibiotic.
-
Corticosteroids are absolutely contraindicated in cases of
suspected infection.
